Pieces for Playing and Practice
A small overview of my tabs and scores, ordered suitably for beginners
Free E-books
(All free e-books are hosted by Ukulele Hunt. The actual downloads can be found in the box below the embedded videos, titled “Click Here to Download”.)
- Ukelige Weihnachtslieder: Chord accompaniment of German Christmas carols with simplified chords for absolute beginners.
- Erste Übungsstücke für Solo Ukulele: Mostly very easy solo pieces for practice, suited for my online crash course.
- Solo Ukulele für Einsteiger: My very first and thus oldest e-book. A large collection of simple to intermediate arrangements of folk, classical pieces and the like. The engraving was done with Powertab, so it’s not as nice as my more recent e-books.
- Musikalisches Naschwerk für Solo Ukulele: A handful of relatively simple solo arrangements of mostly German folk songs.
- Weihnachten mit der Ukulele: The German Christmas e-book for the whole family: 20 solo arrangements of wellknown German Christmas carols, together with chords and lyrics. This e-book is engraved with Powertab, so it’s not as nice as my more recent e-books.
Single (free) tabs in my blog posts
- Fernando Sor, Op. 60, No.1 A simple small etude, originally for guitar
- Richard Cusack A celtic harp piece by Turlough O’Carolan, not too difficult
- Planxty Irwin Another one!
- BW1010, Bourree II A little bourree from a cello suite by J.S.Bach, arranged as a counterpoint solo for the ukulele. Suitable for advanced players.
- Gnossienne 1 by Erik Satie (difficult, requires 13 frets)
- The Song of the Walloons by Louis Hillier. Intermediate to advanced level of difficulty.
Advanced E-Books (not free!)
- Christmas Music with the Ukulele: Solo arrangements, notation for easy melody playing, chords and lyrics. The level of difficulty ranges from very easy to advanced. A Christmas e-book for players of all levels.
- Alte Musik mit der Ukulele: A rather special e-book with solo arrangements: Tabs only, no score! 500 years ago, tab books were done this way too! Mixed level of difficulty, moderate to advanced.
- Klassische Musik mit der Ukulele: The arrangements in this e-books are challenging, but rewarding. It contains 12 more or less well-known classical pieces. This e-book is not my most recent work, however the arrangements are quite substantial. I still really enjoy playing them.
- Keltische Musik mit der Ukulele: A few intermediate-level arrangements of celtic music, mostly harp pieces (many by O’Carolan). They surely sound nice on the ukulele!
- Klassische Musik mit der Ukulele, Band 2: My most sophisticated e-book so far. I really worked hard on this one! Difficulty ranges from easy to very hard, however all pieces are available in three different representations: 1.) Easy melody tabs with chord diagrams, 2.) songbook with chords and lyrics, 3.) Solo arrangements with tabs and scores.
- Danserye mit der Ukulele, Part 1 and Part 2: Again a mega-project! This one was especially demanding for me: To make decent ukulele arrangements for ALL pieces of Tielman Susato’s Danserye! I needed more than a year for only the first 15 pieces (the basse dances). These are now the content of my first e-book about the danserye. The 2nd e-book is now available too, it contains 10 rondes and 6 branles. Although these pieces were difficult to arrange, playability is not too bad. The level of difficulty is intermediate.
